Mass Cards
The Church has a long tradition of encouraging priests when they say Mass to do so for an intention. They are to do this whether or not they have received an offering from one of the faithful to say Mass for a special intention. In requesting a Mass the faithful are asking that the priest make their intention his/her own intention as they offer the sacrifice of the mass.
A Mass card, also known as a Mass offering card, is a greeting card given to someone to let them know that they, or a deceased loved-one, will be remembered and prayed for at Mass.
Occasions for offering Mass and giving Mass Cards are most commonly for the repose of a departed soul. This tradition began quite early in the Church, The Canons of Hippolytus, from the first half of the 3rd century, mention the offering of prayers for the dead at Mass, but some evidence suggests this practice started in the 1st or 2nd century. The saints and early church fathers spoke of remembering the dead at the Mass, and encouraged the faithful to pray for those who had died.
Mass cards can be ordered ether as physical cards or digital Mass cards. Physical mass cards will be mailed to you or the recipient. Digital mass cards can be emailed to you or the recipient. Donations for Mass cards are optional but we do ask for a small donation to help cover the cost of printing , postage, and the upkeep of the Oratory if you are able. The traditional donation for a mass card is $10.00 and can be sent using the PayPal link. Mass will always be offered for your intention regardless of donation. All mass requests will be said during the week as the Sunday mass always has the intention of the entire community.
